Tee Ball Sky

I always think the sky during TJ's tee ball games and practice always look awesome. The first picture I decided after all this time to point the camera up and snap a picture. Today since some storms were a brewin it looked really cool but since Anna was crashed out I only took a couple pictures and none of them caught the sky in the background.

My Local Fire Fighter

On the 4th of July we were over at Uncle Terry and Lizzie's house swimming and grilling when a fire broke out in a trash can at Terry's neighbors house.

Terry is a Dallas Fire Fighter so him and Tim ran over there grabbed buckets of water and the water hose. They pretty much had the fire out when the fire fighters got there.

Now this morning around 8:30 TJ had just come to our bedroom and was laying in our bed playing with his cars. Tim and I were still dosing in and out of sleep. Gracee our doggy started going crazy barking. We always just go check and see what she is barking at.

When I got to the living room she was at the back door. Which is odd but most of the time when she is barking at the backyard it means there is some time of animal or something that is making her bark. I try to look out the window but because of the rain (Praise the Lord) the windows were fogged up. I open the back door and I hear popping. I look some more and I can see huge flames coming up over the fence. There was a huge fire behind our neighbors shed. It was hitting the tree and power lines.

I run back inside yelling "Oh my gosh, there is a fire in Pat's yard! I'm calling 911. Go over there and see if he is outside"

I'm in the backyard talking to the dispatcher and answering all of her questions. All the while Tim ran over there to Pat's house. He isn't home so his daughter woke up and brought their dog to the front.

There gate looked like it was locked so Tim jumped their fence while I went to ask her to unlock it.

Our dogs went to our garage to stay out of the way.

Tim grabbed their hose and started putting the fire out.

Pat's daughter went to go get Pat from the car shop (he was getting his daughter's car fixed.) By this time the fire fighters pulled up. His daughter couldn't leave because the fire truck was blocking their driveway so she took my car to get Pat.

The firemen got to the backyard and that's when I saw that Tim had the fire pretty much out. So they just put a bunch of foam on it to flood it out.

We found out after they finished they had called out more stations and Oncor to come help. They thought the power would go out and that the fire would get big quick. But because Tim had started working on it there wasn't need for the extra help. He called and canceled the other calls.

We were just talking afterward and we were telling the fireman that we always lose power because of the tree limbs. So he called Oncor and requested tree service. So hopefully we'll get them out there. I've called, emailed and emailed again with no luck.

All this before 9 am on a Saturday morning.

They gave TJ stickers and he made Daddy wear one.

Watching them finish up
Anna even slept through it all.
Then the firefighters made breakfast!

Playing in the Rain

In all the rain today I decided it would be fun to let TJ run around and play. It wasn't lightning at all so I knew it would be safe. He had a blast. Just wanted to post some pictures. Yeah there are a bunch of pictures but he was just having so much fun.
Excited

Cool rain

Tasting the rain

Found a hole in the driveway

Sweet feet

"huh?"

oh no, the rain is going to get him

This kid is crazy

oh wait...this looks fun

They had a blast and it was fun watching them play. Now I fear that every time it rains that he'll beg to go play in the rain.

Snow Day 2011

backyard
Well we had our first official snow day of 2011.

It started last night around 10pm. The rain came before the cold front. It rained for a while while the temperature dropped. Early this morning around 3 to 4 am. the rain turned to sleet. By 5 am the roads were getting slick. I had already gotten a call from my baby sitter (Christine is watching the kids while my parents are on their TXAPN trip) that she wouldn't be able to drive. She lives in Ft Worth and it hit there first.

By 6 am I heard our office was taking a weather day due to the ice. Only a few (including Tim) had made it to work and they made it because they were driving before the roads were that bad.

Tim made it home by 7 with breakfast. Since he had been gone since 4:30 our drive way had plenty of time to get a good sheet of ice where his truck had been parked. He pulled into the drive way and put the truck in park and it started to slide back into the street. So he is parked in the street.

We haven't gone out to play in it because its mainly ice.

Maybe we'll venture out later to get some pictures. After all it's Anna's first snow day! Well we had snow another day but it didn't stick here.

Outside in Texas

TJ insisted that we go outside tonight to play.

I agreed because I knew it wasn't really that hot outside and I wouldn't be completely miserable sitting out there while he played.

Ten minutes into the fun I was already getting attacked by mosquitoes, Tim had fire ants crawling on his feet, and TJ was out there in the yard playing away with a huge smile on his face. These events that were happening to Tim and I didn't even faze him and he didn't want to go inside.

It wasn't that hot which makes me want to go out there but these pests were making it miserable for Tim and I.

Texas is wonderful but weird. The summer is coming to an end and you can tell in the air and in the plants but the bugs are in full force because its still warm outside. Yeah I could have easily put bug spray on our legs and arms but then I would be all sticky...ick!

Just wanted to share how this is only a sign that fall and winter is soon approaching. Praise the Lord!!!

Oh and I made my first batch of pumpkin bread of the season this week. I've been craving it but haven't been able to find any cans of pumpkin in the stores until now.

Snow..what? 12 inches...what??

I can NOT believe this winter....

I have never seen this much snow in my life. I have been to states that will get a lot of snow but while I'm there it doesn't snow and then for sure doesn't snow this much.

We got 12 inches of snow here in DFW. I am still floored by it all. And 4 days after the snow fell there is still some snow in areas. Now when it snows in Texas we may get 2 inches and it only stays for the days. So once you get a chance to play in it you better. Heck we even go play in the falling snow even if it doesn't stick. We are out there with cameras and all....haha.

This snow was one we could go an play in whenever....while it was snowing, that night, the next day or even the next day. So nice to experience this!

It started snowing Thursday morning so when I first woke up this is what I saw:

This right here was a lot for me and I would have gone and played in it if it wouldn't have been 6 in the morning. It continued to snow ALL day and all night. When I got home at 4:20 this is what I saw:
WOW. At this point we didn't have power because one of OUR trees fell on some lines in the backyard and the power was cut off. Our neighbor had called at noon and I called twice when I got home. The power came back on that night at about 7:45.

Neighbor's tree...so pretty
our sweet boy...hating the snow..hehe
TJ really didn't like the snow. We stuck him it at one point and he just stood there and screamed. I guess its the uncertainty of it and not knowing what to do. He did love throwing snow balls and watch Gracee chase them. Fun memories.
